Turnkey Care Home Project in Cambridgeshire

Our customer had an 80 bed Dementia focused care home in Cambridgeshire. They wanted a homely feel, designed specifically for dementia needs with influences and accents of local historic features and landmarks.

We supplied and installed approx. 7000 items as part of a full turnkey package for the entire home including hoists, specialist equipment, sluice, laundry and bespoke café areas.

The bedrooms were furnished with electric profiling beds in all rooms with a proportion of low profile beds too.

Dementia rooms were provided with furniture with Perspex panels, scooped handles (cut outs), all furniture and design schemes had the light reflectance values considered to ensure they complemented a dementia area and enhance the area for clients with visual impairments. All fabrics and furnishings were also suitable for a client with dementia.

They required a number of bespoke furniture pieces including reception desk, café bar, divider units and lockable care systems which we provided.

The colour schemes for the bedrooms were standardised by Care UK to a choice of 6 colour schemes and 6 different sets of bedroom furniture.

The building was architecturally attractive too and looked like a hotel from the front with big arched windows to be sympathetic to the surrounding buildings, so the curtains, pelmets and voiles need to fit and complement the arched windows.

The new build was challenged by access issues due to the build and a school close by, the lifts were not in use for part of the installation but we managed to get it done on schedule and the customer was very happy.
