You will be if you take a seat at Aintree University Hospital in Liverpool, which has come up with the newly designed chair that cuts the risk of pressure ulcers and infections for patients. Nicknamed the ‘Aintree chair’, it was developed because many existing designs, with fixed heights and widths, do not properly support patients, increasing the risk of pressure ulcers.A group of nurses, allied health professionals and medical staff, working to reduce pressure ulcers as part of the hospital’s Quality Strategy, came up with the idea of a specially designed chair.In a review of chairs being sold to hospitals, none was found to meet patients’ specific needs, so manufacturers Renray Healthcare
